Richard Alberto begins his first season as an assistant women’s soccer coach at NJCU on the staff of Mike Vivino.
 
Alberto comes to NJCU from the New Jersey Wildcats of the W-League of the United Soccer Leagues (USL) where he worked as an assistant coach during the Spring/Summer 2013 season alongside coaches Kevin McDermott, Homere Breton and Tommy Boykin. Since August 2013, he has also served as associate head coach with the Wildcats’ U10 ‘Lopez’ girls’ youth program under Coach Tom Napoli while assisting Breton as a New Jersey Olympic Development Program (ODP) evaluator for the 2000/2001 girls’ age group.
 
He is also active as a head coach with the Jersey Knights Soccer Club, guiding the ‘Lancers’ U16 boys program since September 2012. Alberto was an assistant coach of the New Jersey Rangers of the USL Premier Development League men’s program in Denville, NJ from September 2010 through August 2012 with Coach Carlos Rasoilo, and was previously head coach of the Rutgers Club Soccer team during the 2009-10 campaign.
 
Alberto has earned a United States Soccer Federation/U.S. Soccer (USSF) National ‘B’ License and possesses a ‘Premier Diploma’ from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). In 2012, he was a national runner-up in the NSCAA’s Next Generation Coach contest featured by Soccer Journal.
 
A December 2010 graduate of Rutgers University with a double major in Economics and Portuguese, he is a 2006 alumnus of Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark, NJ. Alberto, 25, still resides in Clark.
