Krista Bartko '22 has been an integral part of the New Jersey City University athletics department since she joined the Gothic Knights as a women's volleyball student-athlete in the Fall of 2018. After serving as student assistant, student manager and senior student manager during her undergraduate, Bartko was officially hired on as Athletic Facilities Coordinator following her graduation in December of 2022.
Bartko serves as one of the main facility administrators for the John J. Moore Athletic and Fitness Center (JMAC) and the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex. She assists in coordinating the day-to-day operations of each facility, including maintenances, student assistant staffing, security needs, external rentals and internal operations, risk management and more. Bartko also serves as a site administrator on gamedays for the various NJCU varsity athletic teams that play their home events at the JMAC and Gerrity.
In addition to her work with the Gothic Knights, Bartko has also been an ambassador and manager for Kid-Grit since March of 2022. The organization provides developmental support and personal, holistic growth for students from pre-k all the way up to seniors in high school. Bartko trains the student leaders in Kid-Grit's techniques, facilitates activities and teaches SEL for ages five to 17.
As mentioned, Bartko graduated from NJCU in December of 2022 with a bachelor or arts in English. She was also a five-year member and four-year captain of the Gothic Knights women's volleyball program as a libero/defensive specialist. Bartko was also a Honorable Mention Academic All-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) selection every season she was eligible.
Bartko resides in her hometown of Edison, where she was a 2018 graduate of Edison High School.
