For the second time this year and the fourth time in his career, junior midfielder EDISON BILBAO (Carteret, NJ/St. Benedict’s Prep) is the NJCU Men's Athlete of the Week. He had a goal and an assist in NJCU’s only game of the week as #16 ranked New Jersey City University won the 2007 New Jersey Athletic Conference regular season championship, blanking #7 ranked The College of New Jersey, 3-0, on October 20. NJCU won its first outright conference regular season title in the 49-year history of the program and with it, the No. 1 overall seed and home field advantage throughout the NJAC Tournament.

In what can be considered among the most significant victories in program history, it was a player making a strong bid for All-America honors that scored what proved to be the game-winner. Bilbao put NJCU ahead 1-0 just 6:42 into the contest with his third game-winner of the year when he received a thru ball from the right sideline to create a breakaway on the right wing, and finished his ninth goal of the season by flipping a shot over a charging TCNJ senior keeper inside the right post.

The goal also was Bilbao’s 25th point of the season and moved him into sixth place in school history with 61 points.  At 70:33, Bilbao sent a thru ball onto the left wing from the midfield circle, that created a 2-on-1 breakaway for the Knights for a 2-0 lead.

Bilbao currently ranks second in points per game (1.92), third in goals per game (0.67), third in shots per game (3.15), fourth in assists per game (0.54), sixth in points (1.92), tied for sixth in assists (7), and tied for eighth in goals (9).
