Freshman second baseman LACEY SKOWRONSKI (Bayonne, NJ/Holy Family Academy) is the NJCU Women's Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career after batting .417 (5-for-12) with six RBIs, three runs, two walks and one homerun in five games last week, while hitting safely in four of five games.

 

The biggest moment of her young career came in NJCU’s 8-7 win over College of Staten Island on April 26 when she lofted a walk-off, three-run homerun with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. The homerun for Skowronski was the first by any NJCU player this year. NJCU’s last homerun came on April 11, 2006 against Ramapo College. Skowronski finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs and one run.

 

In a loss to Richard Stockton in game one of a doubleheader on April 28, she was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and one run. She also hit safely in each game of a doubleheader at #17 Ramapo College.

 

Skowronski finished the 2007 season fourth on the team in batting at .264 (23-87) with 16 RBIs, 15 runs, four doubles and one homer. She was second on the team in RBIs and tied for second in runs.
