WEEK of: NOVEMBER 17-23, 2008
Sophomore AMANDA SMALL (Port Reading, NJ/Woodbridge) is the NJCU Women's Athlete of the Week for the first time in her NJCU career as the transfer finished eighth overall among 125 bowlers and posted a 196.17 average, highlighted by a 652 series (211-233-208) as #8 ranked New Jersey City University went a combined 13-5 in 18 NCAA matches at the three day Eastern Shore Hawk Classic in Millsboro, DE from November 21-23.

In the six traditional team game portion of the event on November 22, Small had an 1177 six-game total (179-163-183-211-233-208) with a 211 in NJCU's important win over #9 Delaware State University, 894-826. She added a 208 as NJCU outlasted #13 Adelphi University, 912-892.

Small, who largely was NJCU's leadoff bowler in the first tournament of the season, anchored three of six matches on November 23, and was in the set-up position in two more, as the Knights went 4-2 on the final day and finished sixth overall among 20 teams at the tournament.

On the opening day of the event on November 21, NJCU went 3-3, but knocked off #2 ranked Vanderbilt University in a terrific match, 1050-1029. Small, who led off in the five-women rotation, helped the Knights bowled a 269 in the second game against VU, breaking the single-game Baker record of 268 accomplished twice during the NCAA-era, most recently on March 9, 2008 in the ECAC Championship.

For the season, Small is three pins behind Nicole Drejerwski for the team lead with 2,177 pins and owns an 11-game average of 197.91. She has bowled five 200 games and two of 225+, with a high of 235. She has competed in 89 Baker games.
