Freshman CHARLES ALLEN (Rosenhayn, NJ/Bridgeton) is the NJCU men’s athlete of the week for the first time in his career after earning Honorable Mention All-New Jersey Athletic Conference honors in two events by placing third in the long jump and 4x100-meter relay on May 8 at the 2010 NJAC Track and Field Championship. NJCU placed eighth overall with 30 team points.

Allen was third in the long jump to earn six team points for the Gothic Knights, landing a distance of 6.51 meters. He then anchored the 400-meter relay as the quartet posted a season’s-best time of 41.95 seconds—1/100th of a second faster than the 41.96 mark on April 23 at the Penn Relays—earning six team points. The time easily surpassed the ECAC qualifying standard of 44.00 seconds and narrowly missed the NCAA provisional mark of 41.90 in the final race of the 2010 regular season. Allen did not compete in other events after suffering a leg injury.
