Senior point guard #KEITH WILLIAMS# (Jersey City, NJ/Create Charter) is the NJCU Men’s Athlete of the Week for the second time this season and fifth time in his career after leading the Gothic Knights to a pair of non-conference  wins as NJCU extended its record to 9-1. It’s just the sixth time in the 79-year history of the program that NJCU has won nine of its first 10 games.

Williams, the lone All-NJAC returner on this year’s team, averaged 11.0 points, 4.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 0.5 blocks per game and owned a 1.8 assist/turnover ratio. He shot .583 from the field (7-12), .400 from three-point distance (2-5) and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the line in 56 minutes of action.

In NJCU’s 65-52 win over Lehman College on December 14, Williams had a solid all-around game with nine points on 4-of-6 shooting (1-for-2 3FG), six assists, five steals and one block. He tied his career high for assists in a game and tallied his fourth career game with at least five steals.

In NJCU’s 63-60 come-from-behind win over Nazareth College on December 17, finished with 13 points (3-6 FG), six rebounds and three assists, but most contributed from the foul line where he was perfect in six tries, including four free throws in the final 26 seconds to clinch it. During the comeback, Williams buried a three that made it a two-point game, 44-42 with 7:27 remaining and later nailed a running jumper with 2:48 left, that gave NJCU its first lead since the 7:42 mark of the first half. Williams calmly drained two foul shots with 13.5 seconds to play for the final 63-60 lead.

Williams, a Gothic Knight co-captain, is averaging 10.8 points, 4.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game while shooting .508 from the field (32-63), .441 from three-point range (15-34) and .853 from the free throw stripe (29-34). He has scored 108 points and collected 43 assists and 24 steals while only committing 22 turnovers.

Among the NJAC statistical leaders, Williams currently lists among the Top 10 in the conference in six categories—third in free throw percentage (leader is shooting .871), fourth in steals, fourth in assist/turnover ratio (2.0), fifth in assists, sixth in three-point percentage, and seventh in field goal percentage. He is also 12th in three-pointers made (1.5 per game), 21st in scoring, 25th in blocked shots (4), and 34th in rebounding.
