JERSEY CITY, NJ…New Jersey City University
had not faced Brooklyn College in men's soccer since 1981, but for the Gothic Knights, it was worth the wait. NJCU, ranked #24 in Division III, scored three times in the first 17:19 of the game, before its reserves added two more, and the Knights ran their unbeaten streak to 11 consecutive games with a 5-0 victory over the Bridges, in a non-conference game on Monday at the Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field. NJCU outshot Brooklyn, 38-1.

The five goals gives NJCU 50 in 13 games this season, as the Knights score at least 50 times for the ninth straight year since the 2000 campaign. Prior to 2000, NJCU had never reached the 50-goal plateau.

NJCU (9-2-2), ranked third in the NCAA Division III Metro Region and 24th nationally by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, still has not lost in six weeks, dating back to August 30, and defeated the Bridges for the first time. The teams were meeting for the first time since September 17, 1981. BC, which falls to 4-7-2, leads the series, 2-1.

09-20-08 Eduardo Tejada 19
Five different players tallied goals for NJCU as all 28 Knights who suited up saw at least 20 minutes of action. The goal scorers were senior center midfielder JONATHAN BILBAO (Carteret, NJ/St. Benedict's Prep), sophomore midfielder EDUARDO TEJADA (North Arlington, NJ/North Arlington), sophomore forward TRAVIS MCKOY (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia), junior midfielder JILMAR PEREZ (Princeton, NJ/South Brunswick), and freshman midfielder TOM KRYCHKOWSKI (North Arlington, NJ/North Arlington).

Senior center midfielder JONATHAN BILBAO (Carteret, NJ/St. Benedict's Prep), senior forward CRISTHIAN ACUNA (East Newark, NJ/Harrison) and freshman forward WALTER AVANS (Roselle Park, NJ/Union Catholic) each added assists.

Sophomore keeper ANDRE VIOLA (Clifton, NJ/St. Joseph's Regional (Montvale), freshman MANNY LOJO (Clark, NJ/Union Catholic) and freshman JULIAN CUCCO (Elmwood Park, NJ/Elmwood Park Memorial) split time in net—35:00, 29:02 and 25:58, respectively—without needing to make a save, as the trio combined for NJCU's fifth shutout of the season and 196th in the 50-year history of the program. In defeat, Brooklyn sophomore keeper Azad Kafarov (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) made six saves.

09-20-08 Edison Bilbao 8
Just 1:49 into the game. JONATHAN BILBAO's scored the game-winner for NJCU for the second consecutive outing, as he extended his own program record with his 13th career game-winner. His twin brother, EDISON BILBAO, who recorded his third assist of the year and 29th of his career, aired out a corner kick from the right endline to the left post. There, JONATHAN BILBAO settled the ball and knocked it in for his third goal of the year. In all, 13 of his 23 career goals have been game-winners.

Tejada
scored his second goal of the season at 13:25 when Acuna lofted a cross from the right endline near the left post. There, Tejada's header inside the post from two yards out made it 2-0. The assist was Acuna's 34th career helper and third of the year.

At 17:19, a red-hot Mckoy struck again with his seventh goal of the season, as he settled a loose ball on the right side of the box and dribbled through two defenders, before unleashing an unstoppable one-timer for a 3-0 margin.

Much of the starting line-up left after the 20th minute, and NJCU, which outshot Brooklyn in the first half, 23-0, led 3-0 at the break.

Perez
made it 4-0 just 2:54 into the second half when he stole possession from the visitors on the deep right wing at 47:54, and with the opposing keeper off his line, blasted a long, low shot into the left side for his second goal of the year.

Krychkowski
, who has made the most of his reserve time this year, scored his second goal of the year in only 112 minutes of action. At 71:30, Avans sent a thru ball from the right wing to his rookie teammate to the left of the goal, where he fired in a shot that banked home off the inside of the left post.

In a battle between two nationally ranked teams still unbeaten in conference play, NJCU will host #13 ranked William Paterson University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game on Wednesday, October 15 at 3 p.m. Brooklyn next plays on October 18 when it hosts City College of New York at 12 p.m.
