JAMAICA, NY…Sophomore outside hitter MARLEY PENA-GUZMAN (Atlanta, GA/Central Gwinnett (GA)) slammed 13 kills and hit .476 (13-3-21) with seven digs and two aces as New Jersey City University won its fourth consecutive match, sweeping York College (NY), 3-0 (30-22, 30-19, 30-25) in a non-conference men's volleyball match on Wednesday night at the York College Gym.

NJCU improves to 5-1 overall with its 11^th consecutive victory over the Cardinals (2-4) since 1996. NJCU also leads the series, 14-5.

The Gothic Knights hit .349 as a team with 47 kills (47-17-86), led by Pena. Senior outside hitter KEVIN RODGERS (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) tallied nine kills (9-4-16, .312) and added eight digs and two blocks. He now has 1,027 career kills on 2,494 career attempts.

Sophomore setter JORGE RODRIGUEZ (Havana, Cuba/Memorial) delivered 37 assists for a .407 percentage and defended seven digs, while hitting .800 with four kills (4-0-5).

Also for NJCU, freshman outside hitter KENNY LISK (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) posted seven kills, with three aces and two blocks.

Freshman middle blocker DANNY KOCHANSKI (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) and freshman middle blocker AUSTIN BRYANT (Virginia Beach, VA/Kempsville) combined for nine kills and two blocks. Sophomore libero CHRIS EDRA (Edison, NJ/JP Stevens) had seven digs in two sets.

NJCU posted 5.5 blocks as a team and limited York to a -.071 hitting percentage with only 20 winners (20-26-85).

The Gothic Knights play their first North East Collegiate Volleyball Association Metro Division match of the year on Thursday, February 5 when they visit SUNY Purchase at 7 p.m. in Purchase, NY.
