JERSEY CITY, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Barbara Parker of Bayonne, N.J., a fixture in the New Jersey City University athletic department since 1989, retired on September 1 after 28 years of serve as the Gothic Knights' bookkeeper. The second-longest tenured staff member behind assistant athletic director

Parker handled all of NJCU's business manager responsibilities. Among her contributions, she provided accurate, up-to-date budgetary information for each of NJCU's athletic sports programs, as well as support services.

The Gothic Knights held a surprise retirement sendoff for
Parker on August 30 to celebrate her three decades of contributions.

"Barbara has been a trusted, valued loyal employee of the athletics department and she made a lot of things look very easy," said
Alice De Fazio, Director of Athletics, in a tribute to
Parker. "She never had a bad word to say about anybody. That is a very significant quality to have. She is going to be missed."
