Jynaisha Martin was a nice spark off the bench in her second game for the
New Jersey City University women's basketball team, which fell 72-38 to Rutgers University-Camden on January 20 inside the John J. Moore Athletic and Fitness Center ("Charlie Brown Court").

In the New Jersey Athletic Conference game, Rutgers-Camden (9-8, 6-5 NJAC) led 20-8 after the first quarter and held a 39-15 halftime advantage. The Scarlet Raptors shot 44.4 percent from the floor overall (32-72) while outrebounding the Gothic Knights (0-13, 0-10 NJAC), 50-33. NJCU shot 13-of-55 in the loss.

Martin led the team with 11 points (4-10 FG) in 21 minutes off the bench after joining the team this week, while sophomore forward
Kayla Clarke (East Rutherford, NJ/Becton Regional) chipped in nine points, shooting 3-of-7 overall including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Freshman forward/center
Gianna Benacquista (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) had four blocks and five points.

Also for NJCU, sophomore guard
Hannah Gavin (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown) added six points on 2-of-6 three-point shooting. Freshman guard
Arielle Cortes (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) had nine rebounds.

In all, 11 different Rutgers-Camden players registered at least one point against NJCU with three of them scoring in double digits. Senior forward/center
Michelle Obasi (Camden, N.J.) fell two rebounds shy of a double-double as she registered 12 points (6-11 FG), grabbed eight rebounds (six defensive) and dished out four assists in an effective 21 minutes of work.

Junior guard
Gabby Greene (Howell, N.J.) scored 11 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor (4-8, 3-6 3FG) with three steals, while senior guard/forward
Cara Racobaldo (Pennsauken, N.J.) chipped in 11 points (5-9 FG), dished seven assists and grabbed six boards (five defensive). Both players saw action in 20 minutes of play.

NJCU travels to Ewing, N.J. on Monday, January 22 for a 6 p.m. tip-off against The College of New Jersey. Monday's meeting between the two sides was originally scheduled for December 9 but was postponed due to snow. TCNJ leads all-time series, 57-3, and has won the last 17 games. The Lions come in at 13-4 (8-2 NJAC) and 7-0 at home.
