New Jersey City University's women's basketball team trailed Kean University by only 10 points (14-4) after the first quarter but the Cougars scored 18 or more points in the final three quarters of play to defeat the Gothic Knights, 74-25, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game on January 31 inside the Harwood Arena.

Kean (9-11, 6-8 NJAC) shot 43.1 percent (31-72) on the night as its bench outscored the NJCU (0-17, 0-14 NJAC) reserves, 38-10 and held a 46-8 points in the paint advantage. NJCU shot 10-of-61 overall.

Freshman guard
Pamela Ramnarain (Orange, NJ/Port Saint Lucie (Fla.)) led the Gothic Knights with six points in 14 minutes of play. Sophomore guard
Hannah Gavin (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown) scored five points and grabbed five boards, while freshman forward/center
Gianna Benacquista (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) and sophomore center
Melissa Etienne (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) secured seven rebounds and chipped in four points apiece. Junior point guard
Jesenia Montalvo (Hillside, NJ/Bayonne) grabbed six caroms and forced four steals.

For the Cougars, freshman center
Lorenzah Hammer (Orange, N.J.) produced her second double-double of the season with 15 points (6-12 FG) and 10 rebounds in 31 minutes of work. Sophomore guard
Payce Lange (Tewksbury, N.J.) added 12 points (4-8 FG), hitting both threes she attempted, while reigning NJAC Rookie of the Year
De'Mean Bond (Paterson, N.J.) scored 10 points as the sophomore forward/center shot 5-of-8 from the floor and swatted away four shots in 18 minutes.

In 28 minutes of play, freshman guard
Latice Cunningham (Paterson, N.J.) grabbed 10 rebounds and five steals. Junior guard
Brielle Colgero (East Hanover, N.J.) chipped in nine points (3-7 3FG) in 14 minutes of play.
