CAMDEN, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) |
Rutgers University-Camden (5-5-1, 2-1-1 NJAC) used a hefty advantage in terms of possession and shots on goal to pull away in the second half of a New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup against
New Jersey City University (4-6-0, 0-4-0 NJAC), by a final score of 4-0 on September 29.
Â
The match ended up being the second half of a doubleheader at Rutgers-Camden Community Park, as the Gothic Knight men's soccer game was relocated from Jersey City to Camden earlier Saturday morning.
Â
Four different women scored for the Scarlet Raptors. The NJCU women played a tight first half against the Raptors, allowing a lone strike, in the form of a
Melissa Peel (Gibbstown, N.J.) rebound off an
Ava Pizzaro (Bensalem, Pa.) shot, sending RUC into the break with a 1-0 lead.
Pizzaro finished with three points on the day.
Â
The two teams combined for only six total shots in the first half of a cagey match. The lone NJCU shot came from junior midfielder

Natalie Eberhardt (Cherry Hill, N.J.) in the 39th minute.
Â
The Raptors turned up the pressure in the second half, however, with
Pizzaro making the lead 2-0 in the 48th minute, assisted by
Taylor Hueston (Metuchen, N.J.).
Meghan Wachira (Plainsboro, N.J.) extended the lead to 3-0 with her sixth goal of the season in the 58th minute (once again assisted by
Hueston), and
Kenzee Hudson (Riverside, N.J.) added the final goal of the match in the 90th minute on a flick-in from a
Taylor O'Rourke (Hammonton, N.J.) pass.
  Â
All in all, RUC outshot NJCU 21-2 on the game, with a 16-1 differential in the second half. It was the third straight shutout loss for NJCU—all coming in conference play.

Rookie keeper
Cidney Lee-Sam (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) started the match in goal for NJCU, tallying seven saves and three goals allowed in the 78:59 she was on the pitch. Freshman
