JERSEY CITY, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | New Jersey City University re-launched its official athletics website, NJCUGothicKnights.com on September 4, 2019 to coincide with the university's introduction of a new visual identity and athletics spirit marks while concurrently rebranding its athletics department as 'Jersey City's Team.'
Â
The new website launch followed a six-month redesign process and overhaul of the site to run parallel with the unveiling of NJCU's new athletics brand identity. The redesign is the fifth version of NJCUGothicKnights.com since the site officially launched on November 4, 2004 and was produced in a collaborative effort between college athletics website provider SIDEARM Sports and the NJCU athletic communications office. It is the first new version of the website since November 3, 2016. NJCU and SIDEARM Sports have been partners for 15 years—one of the longest of any school in the nation.
Â
In addition to the introduction of new logos, the site prominently features the Jersey City skyline as a backdrop and a parallax effect of the skyline beneath the top navigation menu and in the student-athlete testimonial feature zone.
Â
"We are very excited to launch this latest version of
NJCUGothicKnights.com," said
Ira Thor, Assistant Director of Athletics for Strategic Communications and Marketing at NJCU. "The entire website redesign was conducted to enhance the online, multimedia and social media experience for our audience at NJCU. This is our fifth website launch with SIDEARM since we originally signed on as the seventh client of Internet Consulting Services in the company's infancy. This is undoubtedly our most important launch since the original in 2004 because for the first time in more than a quarter of a century, we unveiled new spirit marks and a new identity as 'Jersey City's Team' as part of a year-long rebranding initiative. I want to thank SIDEARM for working with us to meet our desired launch date to coincide with our new identity roll out. We appreciate the professionalism of the SIDEARM team to help bring our vision for a new website design to life."
Â
The new website has a cleaner layout and story structure and a revamped navigation system. Most notable is the 'Inside Athletics' section, which includes a Welcome to NJCU Athletics area and is subdivided into eight subsections: Facilities and Directions, Communications and Marketing, NJCU Tradition, Fans, In the Community, Current Student-Athletes and Current Staff.Â
Â
Furthermore, GothicVision, NJCU's official video platform, has a more robust layout and will feature the four most recent videos produced in conjunction with the NJCUGothicKnights YouTube channel.Â
Â
Finally, the site includes a new social media directory listing all available social media accounts for the department, its athletic teams and some administrators and coaches. Team social media accounts are also directly linked in the primary sports navigation menu.
Â
The website continues to include a responsive layout that will automatically adapt to a user's custom screen resolution and browser settings, as well as mobile devices and tablets.
Â
NJCU's abundant database of archived materials, featuring decades of news releases, statistics and results, and robust record books will continue to grow on the new site, with further expansion planned.
