EWING, N.J. – The New Jersey City University women's soccer team traveled to New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) foe #1 The College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon, October 9. Although the Gothic Knights managed two shot attempts, they were ultimately out shot and dominated by the Lions, resulting in a 4-0 loss.
NJCU (2-6-3, 0-4-1 NJAC) fell behind in the match-up against the Lions (11-0, 5-0 NJAC), despite Gothic Knight sophomore goalkeeper
Marissa Lotierzo's (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) 10 saves. The Lions started strong off the bat, taking multiple shots within the first 10 minutes. In the 12th minute, TCNJ scored its first goal of the game. The next three minutes didn't come easy for Jersey City – TCNJ followed with their second and third goal in matters of seconds.
Jersey City, now down 3-0, had its first shot of the game by sophomore
Shea Ramirez (Bogota, N.J./Immaculate Conception) in the 17th minute but missed wide. Minutes later, NJCU senior
Tiana Ulloa (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) also had a shot opportunity, missing high. The rest of the half consisted of shots from the host team, all saved by Jersey City.
TCNJ held the momentum in the second half, dominating ball possession. The Lions scored their fourth and final goal in the 61st minute, leaving them victorious over NJCU.
