UNION, N.J. — The New Jersey City University baseball team dropped a pair of games at Kean University on Friday, March 12. Since the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) schedule does not officially began until April, the two losses going on the Gothic Knights record as non-conference.
Game 1
NJCU (0-3) had a tough time getting anything going against the Cougars (2-0) — ranked #12 in the most recent d3baseball.com top 25. Junior leftfielder
Ricky Voss (Eatontown, N.J./Monmouth Regional) had a strong day at the plate in game one, going 3-for-4 with a double and stolen base. Junior catcher
Sebastian Bellone (Matawan, N.J./St. John Vianney) notched his first RBI of his Gothic Knight career and went 1-for-3 in game one. Freshman
Ali Pompey (Belle Meade, N.J./Trenton Catholic) was one the bump in game one and went 5.0 innings, allowing six earned and struck out three.
Game 2
Sophomore
Justin Wiltsey (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Hamilton West) put together 5.2 strong innings in the start for NJCU, allowing three earned runs and striking out three. Unfortunately, the Gothic Knights again were only able to get one run across in the loss. Voss was 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while senior second baseman
Brandon Rivera (Aberdeen, N.J./Matawan Regional) was 1-for-3 with a double and a RBI.

The Gothic Knights return to action tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, March 13, at 12:00 p.m. for a road non-conference game at Centenary University in Hackettstown, N.J.
