PURCHASE, N.Y. — The New Jersey City University women's soccer team traveled to Westchester County to compete against Manhattanville College on Saturday, September 11.
The Gothic Knights (0-1-2) started out strong, scoring the first goal of the game, but failed put any in the net following its single goal. The Valiants (2-1-0) used late offense to get past Jersey City and ultimately win the game.
Jersey City sophomore
Shea Ramirez (Bogota, N.J./Immaculate Conception) took the first shot of the game, just missing wide. In the seventh minute, NJCU received a team yellow card. The Knights rebounded with a corner kick and two shots taken by junior
Arame Diouf (Weehawken, N.J./Memorial) – one missed high, the other saved.

Michelle Taras (Newark, N.J./Newark East Side) took a corner kick for NJCU. After some fumbling, the shot slipped past the keeper for a Jersey City goal. The Knights now led 1-0. Freshman
Rachel Amaro (Newark, N.J./Newark East Side) wrapped up the first half with a shot, missing wide.
NJCU Ramirez' first shot of the second half was blocked by the Valiants. In the 78th minute, Manhattanville's after-burners seemed to kick in. The home team proceeded to score three goals within the next 10 minutes, pushing them past NJCU with a score of 3-1. Jersey City senior
Crystal Tepale (Passaic. N.J./Passaic County Tech) took the final shot of the game but was saved by the Valiants' goalkeeper.
