Linebaugh, Brites Represent NJCU Soccer on All-ECAC Squads

Men's Keeper Named to First Team; Women's Forward to Second

December 16, 2022

DANBURY, Conn. — The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2022 Division III All-ECAC teams and award winners and the New Jersey City University men's and women's soccer programs each had a student-athlete among the organization's selections. Senior keeper Nick Linebaugh (Linden, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) of the Gothic Knights' men's squad picked up First Team accolades, while junior forward Kim Brites (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) of the women's side earned Second Team honors.

Linebaugh, a 2022 Honorable Mention All-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) performer this past season, was the sole goalkeeper on the ECAC's First Team and just one of two recognized overall. He was a dominant force in net for the Gothic Knights this season. He played and started in 19 of NJCU's 20 matches this year, lodging nearly 1,600 minutes between the pipes. Overall, he allowed just 12 goals (0.69 goals against average) and made 90 saves for an .882 save percentage. Linebaugh finished with an 11-5-2 record in net, recorded seven shutouts and helped the team notched another four combined shutouts, as well. He led the NJAC in save percentage, tied for second in shutouts, was third in saves per game and third in goals against average — he ranked behind a pair of keepers that combined for 24 games played 1,955 minutes, while Linebaugh nearly amassed those numbers himself. Last but not least, his save percentage ranked fifth among all keepers in Division III and was just .011 off from the nation's best mark of .893.

Brites, a 2022 Second Team All-NJAC honoree this year, led the Gothic Knights in goals (13), points (29) and shots on goal (30) after playing in 16 of the squad's 18 matches, including 15 starts as the team's primary striker. She amassed three multi-goal performances, including a career-best five-goal game in the 6-3 win over Pratt Institute of Oct. 23. Among her NJAC peers, Brites was first in the conference in goals per game (0.81), second in points per game (1.81) and shots on goal per game (1.88), tied for second in goals, tied for third in shots on goal and was fourth in total shots per game (3.56).

This is the first-career ECAC honor for either Gothic Knight.
