Men's Soccer Falters on the Road at Stockton

GALLOWAY, N.J. — After a scoreless first half and an early 1-0 lead in the second, the New Jersey City University men's soccer squad dropped a tough, 5-1, road New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match at Stockton University on Saturday morning, Oct. 14.

NJCU (6-6-1, 1-5 NJAC) had a pair of scoring opportunities in the first half, while the Ospreys (8-2-5, 2-1-5 NJAC) took three shots on goal in the first, all turned aside by fifth-year keeper Nick Linebaugh (Linden, N.J., St. Benedict's Prep) to keep it scoreless.

The Green and Gold struck first on 49 minutes when senior forward Maximo Vargas (Montevideo, Uruguay, The British Schools) headed a ball back to sophomore midfielder Juan Vizcaino (Clifton, N.J., Clifton), who blasted it into the top corner with his left foot. Since making his debut against Swathmore College on Oct. 7, Vizcaino has notched three goals in 224 minutes played for the Gothic Knights. Stockton would answer with two goals and two minutes, and tallied five goals on 10 shot attempts in the second period.
