WASHINGTON, D.C. — The New Jersey City University women's volleyball team competed in a road non-conference tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 7, down in the Nation's Capital. NJCU first took on neutral for Dickinson College in the late-afternoon matchup, falling in three sets (25-10, 25-10, 25-18) and then dropped another three-setter (25-12, 25-17, 25-9) to host Catholic University in the evening.
The first match for NJCU (2-9) saw senior middle blocker
Ashley Jimenez (West New York, N.J./Memorial) lead the Gothic Knights offensively against the Red Devils (5-10), notching a team-high six kills, while senior setter
Katrina Nguyendon (Union, N.J./Union) dished out 14 assists. Rookie libero
Carly Everett (York, Pa./York Catholic) recorded nine digs to lead the Green and Gold as well.
NJCU's second match against the Cardinals (14-6) saw Nguyendon finish with a match-best 16 assists and 11 digs for her third double-double of the season, while Everett led the Gothic Knights with 13 digs. Junior outside hitter
Brenda Gonzalez (Union City, N.J./Dickinson) notched a team-high seven kills, as well.
