FLUSHING — The New Jersey City University women's tennis team faced off with Division II Queens College on Monday afternoon, March 20. NJCU grabbed a 6-4 win at second doubles against the Knights, but fell overall to Queens, 7-0.
After dropping third doubles first, Jersey City (3-2) dropped a hard-fought match at first doubles before junior
Giada Zorzan (Milan, Italy/Liceo dello Sport Marco Pantani) and freshman
Sophia Jurina (Munich, Germany/Carl-Spitzweg-Gymnasium) teamed up for the 6-4 victory at second doubles. Queens (8-4) took the doubles point and then won all six singles matches for the 7-0 win.
Sophomore
Vanshita Malhotra (Barwala, India/DAV Model School) had a strong match at third singles, falling in three competitive sets (2-6, 6-4, 11-9). Jurina also played her match at fifth singles closely, falling 6-3, 6-4.

The Gothic Knights, weather permitting, are scheduled to open up New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play on Saturday, March 25, at home at the Lincoln Park Tennis Center beginning at 12:00 p.m. against Rutgers-Camden.
