Women's Soccer Finishes up Ohio Trip at Kenyon

Mannino Posts Second-Straight Eight-Save Performance in 3-0 Loss

GAMBIER, Ohio — The New Jersey City University women's soccer team closed up its two-game road trip in Ohio over the weekend. The Gothic Knights took on Kenyon College on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 10, but fell to the undefeated Owls, 3-0.

NJCU (1-3) sophomore keeper Sophia Mannino (Burlington, N.J./Burlington Township) made three strong stops before Kenyon (3-0-1) struck first in the 37th to go up 1-0. The Green and Gold tried to tie it up in the 44th as sophomore midfielder Becky Lopez (Mountain View, Calif./Mountain View) found the foot of sophomore forward Ari Flores-Ortiz (Little Falls, N.J./Passaic Valley Regional). She sent it back to senior forward Kim Brites (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) who found rookie forward Bella Moore (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) just inside the box. Moore made a nice couple of moves and sent a nice shot with her left foot on net, but it was turned aside.

Kenyon scored two more in the second in the 58th and 72nd to finish up the game, 3-0.

Up Next:
NJCU continues with three straight road games, starting with a match in Allentown, Pa., on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 13, against Cedar Crest College. The Gothic Knights and Falcons have met seven times dating back to 2015 and NJCU leads the series 4-0-3. The teams have tied in the last two meetings (2021 and 2022).
