JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The New Jersey City men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Rutgers-Camden in an NJAC clash on Saturday, Oct. 19, at Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field.
The Scarlet Raptors (7-5-4, 3-1-2 NJAC) outshot the Gothic Knights (6-7-3, 0-6 NJAC) 13-8, with a narrow 4-3 edge in shots on target. Freshman goalkeeper
Dominic Cunha (Rahway, N.J./Rahway) made three saves during the match.
Both teams were evenly matched in the first half, each recording four shots, but the Gothic Knights had a slight advantage with two shots on target and more corner kicks. The game remained scoreless at halftime.
In the 75th minute, a yellow card against a Gothic Knight set up a free kick for Rutgers-Camden from about 40 yards out. The Scarlet Raptors capitalized, scoring with a well-placed shot into the upper right corner. They dominated the second half, outshooting NJCU 9-4 and landing three shots on target to the Gothic Knights' one.
