JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The NJCU men's soccer team faced a tough loss against Stockton, falling 6-0 in NJAC action on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field.
The Ospreys (3-4-4, 1-1-1 NJAC) outshot the Gothic Knights (6-4-3, 0-3 NJAC) 20-4, with 12 shots on target compared to NJCU's 2. Despite a balanced corner kick count at two apiece, Stockton managed to control the game physically, committing 15 fouls to NJCU's 8.
Junior midfielder
Jona Caballero (Union City, N.J./Jose Marti STEM Academy) led the Gothic Knights with three shots, including one on target. The Ospreys struck early, scoring four goals before halftime at the 14th, 22nd, 29th, and 35-minute marks. They added two more in the second half at the 55th and 60th minutes, effectively sealing the game.
Freshman goalkeeper
Dominic Cunha (Rahway, N.J./Rahway) made six saves in 79:50 minutes of play before being relieved by freshman
Lennox Nunez (Linden, N.J./Linden), who saw action in his second game of the season. NJCU didn't register their first shot on goal until the 88th minute, when freshman midfielder
David Beltran (Demarest, N.J./Northern Valley Regional) stepped up.
