Rigo Records Double-Double in One-Point Overtime Loss to Stockton, 45-44

GALLOWAY, NJ - Kendra Rigo (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) tied her career-high with 17 points in the one-point overtime loss, 45-44, to Stockton University on the road on Wednesday, December 11.

NJCU (3-5, 2-2) scored 30 of its 44 points in the paint against the Ospreys and shot 87.5% from the charity stripe. Rigo also paced the team with 10 rebounds for her 3rd double-double of the season. Carissa Reyes (Jersey City, N.J./Snyder) tallied season highs across the board in the loss with 10 points, two assists, three rebounds, and 34 minutes played. Stockton (5-4, 2-2) was led by Skylar Fowlkes who scored 10 points while Jameelyonna Horace paced the team with 10 rebounds.

A sluggish first quarter ended with a Rigo layup to give the Gothic Knights an 8-6 lead. The same flow of play carried over to the second quarter, however, the Gothic Knights struggled offensively, scoring just four points compared to the 9 by the Ospreys.

The third quarter saw the pendulum swing back in favor of NJCU as they scored more points in the third than in the entire first half. With 3:42 remaining in the quarter, Autumn John (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) gave NJCU the lead with a layup off of the glass. The Gothic Knights were unable to extend their lead farther than two points as Stockton remained close and eventually tied it, sending it to the fourth tied at 24.

In the fourth, a tug of war ensued as neither team could establish a foothold when they jumped in front. Reyes put NJCU ahead by three with 14 seconds left after hitting a pair of free throws. Imene Fathi made sure the game didn't end at the charity stripe as she tied the game up with a three, with six ticks left on the clock. In overtime, Stockton never relinquished the lead and held on for the crucial NJAC win.
