Men's Basketball Topples Immaculata in the Doc Greene Championship, 59-43

HUNTINGDON, PA - Jaheim Lewis (Hillside, N.J./Hillside) led the Gothic Knights to the Doc Greene Tournament Championship over Immaculata, 59-43, in their first-ever meeting, hosted by Juniata on Monday, December 30.

Lewis recorded his 4th double-double of the season with 19 points and 16 rebounds for NJCU (8-4). Hakeem Wilson (Newark, N.J./North Star Academy) added 14 points while Raymond Ezike (Newark, N.J./Westside) recorded a career-high eight blocks alongside seven points and six rebounds. Ezike's eight blocks are the most in a game since Devin Davis recorded eight against Ramapo in 2005. Immaculata (5-8) was held to 4.8% (1-23) shooting from three-point range and was led by John Proctor and Mandon Seapoe with 10 points each.

Immaculata took an early 10-4 lead over the Gothic Knights behind four points from John Proctor. Immaculata eventually pushed its lead out to 11 points, 22-11, however, momentum began to swing in favor of the Gothic Knights when Lewis converted a jumper with 8:03 remaining in the first half. That basket sparked an 11-0 run by the Gothic Knights that put them ahead 25-22. Isaiah Johnson-Williams (Jersey City, N.J./Don Bosco) capped off the half with a three-point bucket to send the Gothic Knights into the locker room up 30-28.

The Gothic Knights picked up where they left off and extended their lead while Immaculata struggled from the field, scoring just three points in the opening 12 minutes of the second stanza. Wilson gave the Gothic Knights its largest lead of the game (22 points) after he sank a jumper with 5:43 left. Immaculata cut the lead down to 14, but that was as close as they got as NJCU tightened up their defense to hold onto the win.
