STATEN ISLAND — The New Jersey City University men's and women's track & field squads competed at the Fastrack National Invite on Friday, Feb. 9, at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Headlining the day for the Gothic Knights was senior
Jaime Tlatelpa (Jersey City, N.J./University Academy Charter), who broke his own program record in the 5,000 meter race with a time of 16:25.92, while sophomore
Sirell Clark (Jersey City, N.J./University Academy Charter) moved up to third all-time with a personal record toss of 12.75 meters in the weight throw.
Overall, there we some other strong performances on the NJCU men's side. Sophomore
Gerard Victor (Irvington, N.J./Payne Tech) notched an indoor-PR of 51.81 seconds in the 400-meter dash to place 42nd out of 122. Senior
Jason Garcia (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson) also crossed the 200-meter finish line with a time of 22.95 to place 47th out of 121. Senior
Topu Saha (Jersey City, N.J./William L. Dickinson) PRed in the 800-meter (2:09.23) and the mile (4:47.27). Rookies
David Reyes (Keasbey, N.J./John F. Kennedy Memorial) and
Ethan Graham (Woodbridge, N.J./John F. Kennedy Memorial) PRed in the 60-meter dash (7.49) and shot put (8.28m), respectively.
For the women, junior
Nyla Boyd (Thomson, Ga./Thomson) made her indoor season debut, running the 200m and 400m events. Her classmate,
Reyanna Henderson (Pemberton, N.J./Pemberton Two), PRed in the 400m with a time 1:02.19. Senior
Ashley Adames (Jersey City, N.J./County Prep) competed in the 400m, as well.

The Gothic Knights now take 10 days off before returning to Ocean Breeze on Monday, Feb. 19, for the 2024 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Indoor Championships, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
