Match One:
In their match against Pratt (3-8), the Gothic Knights started off slow, losing the first set 28-26 despite a strong performance from senior outside hitter
Brenda Gonzalez (Union City, N.J./Dickinson), who contributed six of NJCU's 15 kills in that set.
The team rebounded in set two, turning a 12-12 tie into a decisive 25-14 victory, fueled by a 13-2 run led by junior outside hitter Marina Millet, who recorded three kills and an ace. Gonzalez again shined, posting six kills.
In the third set, a kill from sophomore middle blocker Briana Melanson ignited a 19-6 run, allowing NJCU to secure the set 25-12 and take a 2-1 advantage. Gonzalez continued her dominance, adding seven kills to the team's total of 13.
The fourth set was a showcase of NJCU's power, as they held Pratt to just five points, marking their first single-digit opponent score since a 25-6 win against Medgar Evers in 2022. NJCU led from the start, including a 12-0 run, with Millet contributing three kills. Pratt struggled with 12 attack errors in the final set.
Highlights:
-Gonzalez led the team with a game-high 21 kills, along with six digs, two aces, and one block.
-Millet achieved her third consecutive double-double, posting 11 kills and a game-high 14 digs.
-Melanson contributed 10 kills and four blocks to the team's strong performance.

Match Two
The Gothic Knights faced Baruch (7-4) in a tightly contested match, staying within two points of each other until NJCU led 17-16. Two attack errors by the Bearcats and two kills from Gonzalez allowed NJCU to pull ahead for a 25-21 win in the first set.
In the second set, after trailing 20-13, NJCU rallied with an 8-0 run, highlighted by four kills from Gonzalez, taking a 21-20 lead. The teams exchanged points until a kill by freshman middle blocker
Jaelyn Martinez (Lakewood, Fla./Lake Gibson) and another Bearcat error sealed a 2-0 advantage for NJCU.
The third set remained close, with Baruch even leading 15-14 at one point. However, NJCU responded with an 11-1 run, fueled by kills from Gonzalez and Melanson, alongside six Bearcat attack errors, securing the match with a decisive set win.
