ITHACA, N.Y. – The New Jersey City University (NJCU) track and field team competed at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Championships, hosted by Ithaca College, on Saturday, March 8. The Gothic Knights showcased their talent across six events.
The day began with junior
Tonna Ogina's (North Brunswick, N.J./Highland Park) performance in the high jump. Ogina earned a bronze medal with a jump of 1.62 meters, just shy of her personal best of 1.63 meters. She also participated in the triple jump, where she finished 15th out of 20 competitors, recording a mark of 10.62 meters.
Sophomore
Jezena Aponte (Jersey City, N.J./Snyder) took to the track in the mile race, clocking in at 5:20.91 to secure 23rd place out of 31 runners.
In the women's 200-meter race,
Reyanna Henderson (Pemberton, N.J./Pemberton Two) delivered an outstanding performance, finishing seventh with a time of 25.52 seconds. She followed up with another impressive run in the 400-meter race, where she set a new personal best of 58.44 seconds, claiming ninth place out of 30 competitors.
On the men's side, NJCU's 4x200-meter relay team faced stiff competition with 23 teams in the event. The Green and Gold team, consisting of freshman
Christan Palmer (Union, N.J./Union), juniors
Isaiah Ramirez (Edison, N.J./John P. Stevens) and
Gerard Victor (Irvington, N.J./Payne Tech), and senior
Pratt Charles (Jersey City, N.J./University Charter), crossed the finish line in 1:33.08, earning 16th place.
