Ogina & Charles Lead NJCU at Ursinus Invite

COLLEGEVILLE, PA - The New Jersey City University (NJCU) track & field team raced at the Ursinus Invite.

The men's track & field team had a strong day at the Ursinus meet, led by Pratt Charles (Jersey City, N.J./University Charter), who placed 5th in the Long Jump with a leap of 6.59m. Charles also delivered on the track with a 9th-place finish in the 400m, clocking 50.88, while Isaiah Ramirez (Edison, N.J./John P. Stevens) followed closely behind in 12th with a time of 51.07.

In the throws, Sirell Clark (Jersey City, N.J./University Academy Charter) took 8th in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 43.52m and 22nd in the Discus with 33.31m, showcasing his versatility. Joseph Jean-Marie added a 25th-place finish in the Shot Put (10.97m) and 32nd in the Discus (30.79m).

The 800m saw Goncalo Carvalho (Newark, N.J./East Side High School) finish 31st in 2:06.43, with Jeremiah Saunders (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfied) placing 43rd in 2:10.38. The two returned in the 1500m, where Carvalho finished 45th (4:30.34) and Saunders 47th (4:31.27).

Sprinter Christian Palmer placed 30th in the 100m (11.61) and 40th in the 200m (23.58), rounding out the team's presence across sprint and mid-distance events.

Lucy Pelaez (Jersey City, N.J./Snyder) recorded a 33rd-place finish in the discus with a toss of 21.99m. Shyanne Anson (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Poughkeepsie) led the Gothic Knights in the hammer throw with a distance of 32.14m and was followed by Evelyn Tahmazian (31.64m). 

Tonna Ogina (North Brunswick, N.J./Highland Park) continues to excel for the Gothic Knights in the high jump as she recorded a height of 1.55m good for 2nd and 55th-best in NCAA this season. Ogina wasn't done there as she placed 5th in the long jump with a distance of 5.34m good for the 41st-best distance in the NCAA.
