Track & Field Competes at the John Thomas Terrier Classic

BOSTON, MASS. – The New Jersey City University (NJCU) men's and women's track & field teams competed at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, hosted by Boston University, on Friday, January 30, and Saturday, January 31.

On Friday, senior Raven Orange (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) represented the Gothic Knights in the women's 400-meter dash, finishing 54th out of 88 competitors with a personal-best time of 1:01.05.

Saturday's action opened in the field as freshman David Dewberry (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) earned a 21st-place finish in the triple jump, matching his personal-best mark of 12.78 meters.

In the men's 400-meter open, senior Isaiah Ramirez (Edison, N.J./John P. Stevens) led NJCU with a 48th-place finish, recording a personal-best time of 50.33 seconds. Junior Gerard Victor (Irvington, N.J./Donald M. Payne Tech) followed in 97th place (52.18), while freshman Ariel Tepox-Carino (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) placed 110th with a time of 53.66.

Senior Pratt Charles (Jersey City, N.J./University Charter) competed in the 400-meter invitational, clocking a career-best 59.30 seconds to finish 25th.

Sophomore Gonçalo Carvalho represented NJCU in the 800 meters, finishing 130th with a personal-best time of 2:04.26.

In the 200-meter open dash, Charles secured 28th place with a personal-best time of 22.29 seconds. Ramirez finished 103rd in 23.26 seconds, while Dewberry placed 121st with a time of 23.53 seconds.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team—comprised of Charles, Victor, Tepox-Carino, and Ramirez—posted a time of 3:27.25, finishing 25th overall.

The Gothic Knights return to action on Friday, February 6, when they travel to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for the FastTrack National Invite, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
