STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The New Jersey City University (NJCU) track & field team competed at the FastTrack National Invite on Friday, February 6, at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, turning in several strong performances highlighted by personal bests and podium finishes.
On the women's side, senior Raven Orange (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) delivered an impressive showing in the sprints. She captured the bronze medal in the 60-meter dash (out of 50 runners) with a career-best time of 8.06 seconds, a performance that now ranks 10th in the NJCU program record book. Orange also competed in the 200-meter dash, where she posted another personal best, clocking 26.28 seconds to finish 16th overall.
In the field events, senior Lucy Pelaez (Jersey City, N.J./Snyder) represented the Gothic Knights in both throwing disciplines. She recorded a mark of 7.22 meters in the shot put to place 43rd and followed that with a personal-best throw of 9.28 meters in the weight throw, earning 40th place.
The men's squad also produced solid results across multiple events. Seniors Pratt Charles (Jersey City, N.J./University Charter) and Isaiah Ramirez (Edison, N.J./John P. Stevens) competed in the 400-meter dash, finishing 31st and 32nd with times of 50.99 and 51.06 seconds, respectively. In the long jump, rookies David Dewberry (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) and Johnair Gonzalez (Jersey City, N.J./William L. Dickinson) made an impact, placing 10th and 13th with jumps of 6.22 meters and 6.11 meters. Gonzalez's mark was a season best. Dewberry added another event to his day by competing in the triple jump, where he recorded a distance of 12.51 meters to finish 22nd.

The Gothic Knights return to competition on Saturday, February 14, when they travel to The Armory for a meet hosted by New York University (NYU). The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
