Dr. Danielle Beam (M.S. '15) was promoted to her current role of Associate Director of Athletics for Student Development and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) in the Fall of 2018 after serving in a multitude of roles for New Jersey City University since joining the Gothic Knights in 2011.
Beam oversees
The Rising Knight Institute (RKI). Launched in Fall, 2018, RKI supports the holistic growth of each student-athlete’s intellectual development, academic excellence, social responsibility and self-empowerment, focusing on five pillars of success: academics, personal enrichment, leadership, community outreach and career preparation. She is also the advisor for NJCU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), which expanded from one to two representatives per athletic program in the Fall of 2018. She provides oversight for many of NJCU’s community outreach initiatives, including partnerships with
Soles4Souls and JC Families.
Beam has chaired several search committees, including those for two recent positions — Associate Director of Athletics for Internal Operations, as well as head women’s wrestling coach. She is currently the sport administrator for women's volleyball, men's volleyball and women's wrestling, having previously had oversight over the women's bowling, women's soccer and softball programs as well. She is also the lead administrator for NJCU’s
athletic academic advisement and along with Pete Vincent, serves as the primary advisor for over a hundred student-athletes each year.
Beam began her career in athletics as the assistant women's basketball coach at NJCU in 2011, accepting the role as a Graduate Assistant. During that time, she spearheaded the creation of Community Recreation Unit (ComRec), which is responsible for youth programs and community engagement efforts, and was named Director of ComRec in 2015.
Beam earned a Master's in education from NJCU in 2015, graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Following the completion of her degree, she continued to work toward supporting the student-athlete experience and accepted the additional responsibility of academic advisement, eventually being named Assistant Director for Student-Athlete Advisement in 2016. Ultimately, these experiences led to her ascending to the role of Associate Director for Student Development and Director of RKI. In May of 2020, Dr. Beam completed her pursuit of a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D) at neighboring Saint Peter's University, officially accepting her diploma in person in June of 2021.
No stranger to the NJAC, Beam became the first person in her family to graduate from college after earning a B.S. in history from Ramapo College in May 2011. An honors student and Dean's List honoree, Beam was a two-time Academic All-NJAC selection. She was also a four-year team member and three-year starter for the Roadrunners' women's basketball program from 2007-11. She ranked fifth in the NJAC in rebounds and 16 in the conference in free-throw shooting. Prior to her career as a collegian, Beam was a 2007 graduate of Middletown High School North, where she was a three-year varsity team member and two-year captain, and was named Defensive Player of the Year (2006) and MVP (2007). The Asbury Park Press selected her as on of the top rebounders in the Shore Conference, as well as "Best Inside Player."
Beam currently resides in her native Middletown Township with her partner, Ashley, their two dogs, Jag and Blanca, and two cats, Klay and Finn.
