Amanda Filippone Featured in Fall 2014 NCAA Champion Magazine

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | New Jersey City University women's soccer junior co-captain and center midfielder Amanda Filippone (Kenilworth, NJ/David Brearley) is featured in the Fall 2014 edition of NCAA Champion Magazine (Volume 7, Issue 4).

Filippone's 2014 comeback story of overcoming epilepsy is profiled on page 18 of the publication in a story titled 'Counterattack' by Brian Burnsed.

Filippone lost nearly the entire 2013 season after suffering a grand mal seizure prior to that year's women's soccer home opener. She has worked hard off the field to raise awareness about the condition and has helped other collegiate players whom it afflicts. November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month.

Her story has previous been told in a number of print and online publications, including a length story in the Jersey Journal titled 'Soccer Sets Her Free' and earlier this month was the New Jersey Athletic Conference Student-Athlete Spotlight.

Filippone has performed well in her career for the Gothic Knights. In 44 games (35 starts) since joining the program in 2011, she has 25 points, tallying nine goals and seven assists. She leads the 2014 club with five goals thru October 24.
