NJCU Posts Best Scoring Effort in Four Years as Knights Throttle Kean, 100-70

UNION, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | New Jersey City University saw three players score 19 points or better, highlighted by a career-high 27 points from senior point guard Jourdan Roberson (Brooklyn, NY/University (Newark)) and the Gothic Knights posted their best scoring effort in four years in a 100-70 New Jersey Athletic Conference road throttling of host Kean University on January 24 at Harwood Arena.

Senior small forward Neville Joseph (Newark, NJ/West Side) and junior shooting guard Khalid Muhammad (Orange, NJ/Orange) each scored 19 points for NJCU (6-11, 4-7 NJAC) as NJCU improved to an incredible 79-2 all-time when scoring 100 points in a game.

The Knights led 51-33 at the half when the club shot a scintillating 64.3 percent (18-28) and reached the 50-point threshold in the first half of a conference game for the first time since the 2006-07 season.

Overall, NJCU easily shot a season high from the field and three-point range, at 58.6 percent (34-58) and 57.1 percent (12-21), respectively, knocking down a dozen triples. NJCU was equally awesome from the line where it hit on 20-of-24 attempts (.833).

Roberson was 6-for-6 from the field (two threes) in the first half when he netted 15 points and Joseph was 5-for-5 from the floor, also connecting twice from deep in the opening stanza.

Roberson finished with a game-best and team-season high 27 points on 9-of-11 shooting, including 3-of-4 three-point tries, while converting 6-of-7 at the line with three assists and two steals in only 28 minutes of action.

NJCU head coach Marc Brown (eighth season)
On the result: "This was a great, complete, offensive game. We really shared the ball and we finally hit shots. These are the same shots we have been getting all year. They went in today. We also shot well from the foul line. We just are trying to continue to play better."
