#GothicRewind—Lubonski Shines in Senior Day Loss to RowanCassie Lubonski celebrated her Senior Day by making 11 quality saves in front of more than a dozen family members in attendance, reaching double figures in stops for the eighth time this season, but regionally ranked Rowan University put heavy pressure on NJCU, outshooting the Knights, 33-1, in a 2-0 outcome on October 24.
Lubonski Stopping MostSenior goalkeeper
Cassie Lubonski has reached double digits in saves eight times this season with a high of 15 against FDU-Florham (September 2). She has had at least eight saves in all eight NJAC games thus far, reaching double figures in six contests.
Lubonski's 142 saves are 47 more than any other keeper in the conference. Kean's
KC Nunez is second with 95. Additionally,
Lubonski's 8.88 saves per game us 3.6 more per game than
Nunez. Even with the extra work,
Lubonski is ninth in the league in shutouts (3). She ranks 36 nationally in saves per game and 24th in total saves.
Four Score Trends:NJCU has been involved in seven games that have resulted in a 4-0 final. NJCU is 1-6 in games decided by that outcome.
Merino Impressing:Katherin Merino has been NJCU's offensive leader all year. One of the top offensive newcomers in the league, she is third in the conference in shots per game (3.80) and fifth in total shots (57). She has produced six goals and 15 points.
Pioneer Notes:- William Paterson has struggled for offense all year. The Pioneers have scored just 11 goals in 16 games and rank last in the NJAC and 395th in the nation.
- Despite offensive woes, the Pioneers have several impressive results. Most recently, WP played 110 minutes of scoreless soccer with powerful TCNJ, earning a 0-0 draw at home on October 24. WP also owns a win over Stockton in Galloway, 1-0, on October 3. However, WP also has lopsided losses this month to Kean (5-0, October 10) and Rowan (8-0, October 16).
