For Starters: NJCU and Rutgers-Newark both seek their first New Jersey Athletic Conference victories of the season tonight.
NJAC Skid:NJCU is seeking to end a 16-match NJAC losing streak tonight. The last time the Gothic Knights were mired in a long NJAC losing streak (30 straight), NJCU faced Rutgers-Newark at home on October 30, 2013 and prevailed, 3-2.
#GothicRewind—NJCU Split Weekend Tri-Match:For the third time this season, NJCU split a weekend tri-match on September 26, defeating Cedar Crest College, 3-1 (20-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-15) before falling in a tight match to host Gwynedd Mercy University, 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-22).
Shege Haxhaj reached double figures in kills for the 15th time in her career in the win over Cedar Crest.
Amber O'Donnell provided a combined 22 digs on the day, reaching double digits in both contests. NJCU unleashed 21 service aces in the win over Cedar Crest.
Rachel McIntyre recorded her 11th career double-double with 21 assists and 11 digs against Gwynedd Mercy.
Haxhaj Seeking 500:Junior
Shege Haxhaj enters tonight's match with 482 career kills in 81 matches with 89 total blocks. With 18 more kills she'll be the 15th to get halfway to a thousand. She'll soon become the 11th Gothic Knight with 100 career blocks.
McIntyre Close to a Grand:Sophomore setter
Rachel McIntyre, the sports editor of NJCU's school newspaper 'The Gothic Times', may soon have a personal milestone to report on. With 977 assists in 152 sets, she needs 23 more to become just the fifth Gothic Knight to reach that mark.
Let's Ace This Place:NJCU ranks 19th in Division III in aces. As a team, NJCU ranks No. 1 in the NJAC in service aces at 3.16 per set (120 total). Ramapo is second at 2.87 per set (129).
McIntyre leads the NJAC in aces at 0.95 per set; the next closest player is Ramapo's
Larysa Iwaskiw, a potential NJAC Player of the Year.
McIntyre currently lists No. 13 in Division III in aces.
