JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released their annual Academic All-America Baseball Teams today, Wednesday, June 8, and New Jersey City University senior centerfielder
Ricky Voss (Eatontown, N.J./Monmouth Regional) put an exclaimation point on a postseason that his been filled with awards by being named Second Team Academic All-America. He is just the fifth Gothic Knight student-athlete to earn the recognition in history as NJCU now boasts seven AAA honors all-time. Voss is also the highest Jersey City honoree since 2012-13 with his Second Team accolades.
Last year, now-senior NJCU men's tennis co-captain
Theo Bourghelle became this first Academic All-America selection (Third Team) for the Green and Gold since
Brian Ferrante picked up Second Team honors in 2012-13. The women's soccer program boasts two Academic All-America honorees all-time, with
Julia Caseres picking up Third Team accolades in 2011-12, while
Katie Feehan remains the only multiple-time selection with Third Team in
2005-06 and
2006-07 and NJCU's only First Team recognition in
2007-08.
Voss officially closes out his 2022 season of awards with his Second Team Academic All-America and
First Team Academic All-District honors, adding them to his on-field recognition accolades of
First Team (American Baseball Coaches Association) and Second Team (D3baseball.com) All-Region nods,
All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) selection and
First Team All-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) pick.
