Bowling Closes out Season-Opening Tournament with Third-Place Finish and Five Victories

MONROEVILLE, Pa. — The New Jersey City University women's bowling team finished up its first tournament of the 2023-24 season on Sunday, Nov. 5, and in his first action as a collegiate head coach, Ray Addas helped guide his squad to a third-place finish out of the nine competing teams over the last two days at the Bobcat Baker Classic, which was hosted by the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg at Lokay Lanes. After winning two of four matches yesterday, NJCU took three victories over four today to finish at 5-3 and take home the third-place trophy.

After a tough high-scoring loss to start the day for NJCU (5-3) against #RV Saint Vincent College, 902-841, in which the Gothic Knights put up their highest score of the weekend, the Green and Gold rattled off three victories to close out the Bobcat Classic, all over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) rivals. NJCU defeated host Pitt-Greensburg, followed by Mount Aloysius College and then La Roche University.

The six-player Gothic Knight crew once again competed for NJCU, putting up improved day-over-day results on Sunday — seniors Rebecca Kain (Keansburg, N.J./Keansburg)Rebecca Hoff (Colonia, N.J./Colonia)Gabriela Fernandez (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) and captain Meagan Raimondo (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge), as well as junior Anna Trachsler (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) and freshman Sofia Ocasio (Union City, N.J./Jose Marti STEM Academy).
