JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The New Jersey City University women's volleyball program, under the direction of fourth-year head coach
Jordan Robinson, officially announced its schedule for the 2024 season, the 43rd in Gothic Knights program history. NJCU is slated for 14 home matches, including a pair of non-conference tri-matches to kick off play at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC). The Green and Gold are also set to play away from the JMAC 13 times.
2023 Season in Review:
Last season was a year of transition for Robinson and the Gothic Knights, as the squad bid farewell to a trio of seniors while also boasting a roster of seven newcomers and five returners overall. Offensively, NJCU was led by rising senior outside hitter
Brenda Gonzalez (Union City, N.J./Dickinson) and rising junior right-side hitter
Kiki Lugo (Kearny, N.J./Kearny). Rising junior
Marina Millett (Matawan, N.J./Saint John Vianney) played all over the court, while the program's top middle blocker was
Brianna Melanson (South Brunswick, N.J./South Brunswick). Additionally, rising sophomore libero
Carly Everett (York, Pa./York Catholic) averaged 4.0 digs per set to lead the Green and Gold. All are expected back with the program.
Looking Ahead to 2024:

The Gothic Knights kickoff the season at home with their first tri-match of the year as John Jay College and the University of Mount Saint Vincent visit the JMAC on Aug. 30. NJCU then heads out to Sarah Lawrence College for the first time since 2019 on Sept. 3, having won nine of 10 against the Gryphons all-time, before coming back home for their second and final tri-match at the JMAC on Sept. 7 against FDU-Florham and Bryn Mawr College — the squad has won three straight against both the Devils and Owls. Their first road tri-match of the year comes in Reading, Pa., on Sept. 14, against Alvernia University and Delaware Valley University before SUNY Martime comes to Jersey City for a single-match on Sept. 17 — the Gothic Knights have never lost to the Privateers. The Green and Gold then hit the road for four matches, starting on Sept. 19 at Bryn Athyn College — NJCU has topped the Lions in four straight, dropping just one set — before a tri-match against Neumann University and Widener University in Chester, Pa., on Sept. 21.
New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play finally begins at Rutgers-Newark on Sept. 24 as the Gothic Knights look to make it two wins in three seasons against the Scarlet Raiders. NJCU returns to the JMAC for a non-conference clash with Penn State University-Berks on Sept. 26, before heading over the Hudson River to the Flatiron District for a tri-match on Sept. 28 against Pratt Institute and Baruch College — NJCU has taken three of its last four against the Bearcats and have not faced Pratt since 2019. October begins against reigning NJAC champs Ramapo College at home on Oct. 1 before hitting the road against Montclair State University on Oct. 3. Three straight matches at the JMAC follow, including two non-conference clashes with the City College of New York (Oct. 5) and Brooklyn College (Oct. 10), wrapping up with conference foe Rutgers-Camden (Oct. 15). NJCU has won 10 in a row against CCNY, including a sweep last season, taken two straight against the Bulldogs and won one of the last two against the Scarlet Raptors.
The final stretch of the regular-season begins in Langhorne, Pa., against Cairn University on Oct. 17 — the Gothic Knights have won two straight against the Highlanders — before resuming NJAC play at Stockton University (Oct. 22). Four straight at the JMAC follow, starting with conference foes William Paterson University (Oct. 24) — NJCU has split the last four with the Pioneers — and Kean University (Oct. 29) and finishing with Senior Night against Lehman College (Nov. 1) — the Gothic Knights are winners of three in a row against the Lightning, all sweeps — and then a Monday night, Nov. 4, match against Bard College, who they have split the last two meetings with. Finally, the regular-season closes out on the road on Nov. 5 at NJAC foe Rowan University. Should the Green and Gold finish within the top six of the conference standings come regular-season's end, the 2024 NJAC Women's Volleyball Tournament will take place on Nov. 12, 14 and 16.
