For Starters
In a matchup of two struggling programs, NJCU looks to end a 12-game losing streak—its longest since dropping 13 straight in the 2011-12 season. Rutgers-Newark, who beat the Knights earlier this year, seek to snap a four-game skid and win its second NJAC game.

#GothicRewind—NJCU Falls to 3-Time Champs
In its last action on Saturday, Montclair State, the three-time defending NJAC champions, limited NJCU to three points in the second quarter and to single digits in each period before prevailing, 74-25. NJCU shot 22.2 percent. Montclair led 17-8 after one quarter and 38-11 at halftime. The Red Hawks held a 36-14 margin in points in the paint, a 43-2 advantage in bench scoring and turned NJCU's giveaways into a 34-10 differential in points off turnovers. NJCU did not have a player score in double figures. The 25 points was NJCU's lowest scoring output since a 60-20 loss at Mount Saint Mary on December 6, 1998 and the fewest in an NJAC game since a 65-22 loss at William Paterson on January 31, 1995.

Triple Johnson
Deseree Johnson has made 30 threes in 15 games this year. She enters the action today with 87 in her career in 84 games. She is third in school history and needs two more to pass former teammate Jade Medley (88 threes in 98 games, 2011-15) for second place in school history. The record is 106 by Sandra Nunez in 93 games from 1998-2002. Johnson ranks No. 5 in the NJAC in rebounding and 10th in scoring.

Raider Reads
  • In the first meeting this season against NJCU, Maria Simmons scored 28 points for the Raiders, hitting 11-of-19 overall and 4-of-6 from three-point territory while dishing 12 of the 22 assists for a double-double. She added seven rebounds and four steals in 32 minutes. She earned NJAC Player of the Week honors for that performance (week 3). She later won the award again in week 8. Simmons is the conference leader in assists (6.4), steals (4.1) and ranks third in the league in scoring. She also is third in field goal percentage (.473) and minutes played (36.4).
  • In the first NJCU/RUN game, Arianna Williams also had a double-double for RUN, scoring 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting and 4-of-6 three-point accuracy while grabbing 11 rebounds (eight defensive) with three assists in 36 minutes. Williams ranks fourth in the NJAC in scoring, giving RUN the league's top two scorers. She also ranks third in the league in steals (3.6). She is the league leader in three-pointers made (2.9 per game). Williams averages a league-high 38.9 minutes per game.
