Rodriguez Thrives Against Top-Tier Competition as Women's Basketball Falls at Division I Delaware State

Senior All-American Averaging 29.3 PPG Versus Division I & II Competition

DOVER, Del. — The New Jersey City University women's basketball squared off with their second and final Division I or II opponent of the season on Sunday, Dec. 17, on the road at DI Delware State University. The Gothic Knights were defeated by the Hornets, 95-57, however senior guard Damaris Rodriguez (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) once again led all scorers with 28 points and, for her career, is averaging nearly 30 points per game against higher-division competition.

NJCU (6-5) was led by Rodriguez' .526 shooting percentage (10-for-19 from the floor) against Delaware State (3-8), while junior forward Kenya Wagner (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) chipped in eight points on 4-of-6 from the floor, as well. Senior forward Dayjah Anderson (East Orange, NJ/Newark Tech) pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and also contributed three points and an assist.
