Men's Basketball Prepped and Ready for 2024-25 Campaign with Schedule Release

NJCU Set for 12 Home Regular-Season Contests on Coach Charlie Brown Court

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Headed up by the longest-tenured coach at New Jersey City University in 18th-year head coach Marc Brown, the men's basketball squad has officially released its 2024-25 schedule. NJCU has earned a berth into the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament in 16 seasons under Brown and this year's fresh-faced team looks to make it 17 times. The Green and Gold are set for 12 home regular-season games on Coach Charlie Brown Court at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC).

2023-24 Season in Review:
Last season was an aberration for Coach Brown's historically successful Gothic Knights as NJCU collected eight victories, including season sweeps of Rutgers-Camden and William Paterson University, as well as a big-time home win over Rutgers-Newark late in the year. The Green and Gold were led by a four-pronged offensive attack and three of those student-athletes are set to return for this upcoming season in Jaheim Lewis (Hillside, N.J./Hillside) (12.7 points/game and 6.1 rebounds/game), Hakeem Wilson (Newark, N.J./North Star Academy) (12.3 points/game, 2.8 assists/game and 1.6 steals/game) and Avante Gilbert (Paterson, N.J./International) (11.5 points/game, 4.9 rebounds/game and a 54.5 shooting percentage). Joining those three in the main rotation this upcoming season will also be featured forward Raymond Ezike.

Looking Ahead to 2024-25:

NJCU kicks off the season against Brooklyn College (Nov. 9) for the second straight year, welcoming the Bulldogs to the JMAC after last season's 20-point victory. Next, the Gothic Knights head out to Morristown to square off with Saint Elizabeth University (Nov. 13) for the second straight season, as well, after drubbing the Eagles by 29 at home last season. Back to Charlie Brown Court we go as NJCU welcomes Delware Valley University (Nov. 16) and reigning MAC Freedom Champion Stevens Institute of Technology (Nov. 20) to the West Side of Jersey City — the Gothic Knights topped the Aggies by 10 in a neutral game last season. Road play resumes at reigning Skyline Conference Champion Farmingdale State College (Nov. 23), looking to make it seven wins over their last eight meetings. The month comes to a close, but NJAC play begins back at the JMAC as Ramapo College (Nov. 26) comes to town.

The Gothic Knights make their road conference debut for the season on Dec. 4 at The Golden Dome against Rutgers-Newark, looking to follow up on last season's strong series split. NJCU the returns home to square off with Rowan University after the Profs advanced to the Sweet 16 last season — NJCU pushed Rowan to the brink, 114-111, in last year's home overtime loss. The Green and Gold next travel down to Galloway for a Dec. 11 meeting with Stockton University before returning to the JMAC to close out the early portion of the season against Kean University. Following the two-week holiday break, the Gothic Knights resume play in on the campus of Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pa., for a tournament hosted by the Eagles. They will first face Hood College (Dec. 29) — the Blazers earned an at-large bid to last year's NCAA Championships — and then take on reigning ECAC Champion Juniata or Immaculata University the following afternoon.

The 2025 portion of the season kicks off on the road at Montclair State University (Jan. 8) before NJCU returns to the JMAC in an effort to follow up last year's season sweep of William Paterson (Jan. 11). Back to the road they go as the Green and Gold head to Rugters-Camden (Jan. 15) with a similar mindset. Reigning NJAC Champion The College of New Jersey comes to Jersey City on Jan. 18 before the Gothic Knights hit the road for a pair at Ramapo (Jan. 22) in Mahwah and then down to Glassboro to face Rowan (Jan. 25). The month ends back at home against the Scarlet Raiders (Jan. 29). February commences on the road in Union at Kean (Feb. 1) before Stockton comes back to the JMAC on Feb. 5. NJCU travels out to the Pioneers in Wayne on Feb. 8 before the Red Hawks return to Coach Charlie Brown Court on Feb. 12. Regular-season road play concludes at TCNJ (Feb. 15) before the Scarlet Raptors finish out the regular-season at the JMAC for Senior Night on Feb. 19. The 2024 NJAC Tournament is scheduled for Feb. 22-28 and the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship takes place from March 7-22.
