Women's Basketball Releases Tough 2024-25 Schedule with Continued Championship Expectations

Defending Champs to Host 11 Games at the JMAC

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Having won three New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships in the last four seasons, as well as playing in all four NJAC Title games over that span, the New Jersey City University women's basketball squad, led by seventh-year head coach Pat Devaney, Sr., enters 2024-25 with a relatively-new-look team. The Gothic Knights officially released their 25-game regular-season schedule, which includes 11 home games on Coach Charlie Brown Court at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC). Overall, the Green and Gold is set for seven non-conference games, which includes five teams that received bids to last year's NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.

2023-24 Season in Review:
NJCU set a program record last season with 19 victories, the most in the 54-year history of Gothic Knights women's basketball. Those wins ultimately led the Green and Gold to their third NCAA bid in four seasons, two All-Conference honors, three All-Region honors and one All-America selection. Additionally, NJCU is a combined 28-8 in NJAC regular-season play the last two seasons, setting the program record twice with 14 wins each season.

Home play begins, along with NJAC competition, at the JMAC on Nov. 26 against Ramapo College — NJCU and the Roadrunners have split the last two regular-season series.

December begins with another NCAA matchup as the Gothic Knights travel to face Brooklyn College (Dec. 2) — NJCU defeated the Bulldogs by six at home last year. NJAC play resume at Rutgers-Newark (Dec. 4), but the Green and Gold have now won seven in a row against the Scarlet Raiders. Rowan University (Dec. 7) is up next as the Profs come to Charlie Brown Court — NJCU won last year's season series and has taken six of the last seven against Rowan. Finally, the first half of the season closes out at the JMAC against Kean University (Dec. 14) — the Green and Gold took two of three from the Cougars last season, including a 13-point win in the NJAC Semifinal.

After the Holiday Break, the Gothic Knights travel to Center Valley, Pa., to take on DeSales University, who finished last year in the NCAA Second Round and was ranked #21 nationally. NJCU returns to the JMAC on Jan. 4 to take on Bowdoin College — the Polar Bears closed the season ranked #5 after an Elite Eight finish. NJAC play resumes on the road against Montclair State University (Jan. 8) — the Gothic Knights have won seven of the last eight, including six straight. The Gothic Knights hit the road for a pair of NJAC games at Ramapo (Jan. 22) and Rowan (Jan. 25). Home play resumes as perirenal powerhouse Amherst College (Jan. 27) comes to the JMAC, followed by another game against Rutgers-Newark (Jan. 29).
