Joe Burgos was named the NJCU Men’s Athlete of the Week for the second time in his career and the second week in a row after another huge week for last week’s NCAA Division III National Player of the Week. Burgos helped NJCU tie the school record for best start to a season with a 7-0-0 record, posting two more wins last week. He scored three more goals and had one assist for a seven-point, two-game stretch. He had 11 shots with seven on goal in 140 minutes of action.

On September 11 in a 9-1 road rout of Pratt, Burgos (five shots, four on goal) scored twice for his second brace of the season and added an assist.

On September 14 in a 4-0 shutout of Medgar Evers, NJCU dominated but there was no score until Burgos bagged his seventh goal of the season in the 64th minute for what ultimately was his second game-winner of the year.

He is one of the NCAA scoring leaders with seven goals and five assists for 19 points in just seven games.
