Played four years of football under head coach Jack Stephans and was the only Jersey City State player ever named first team All-Conference three straight years (1970,1971,1972). He was the standout center on the college’s greatest football teams. During his years with the Gothics, the teams posted four consecutive winning seasons with an overall 25-9 record. The 1972 team shared the New Jersey State College Athletic Conference championship and finished 10th in the Lambert Bowl ratings.

Tyburski is only one of five offensive or defensive interior linemen in conference history to be named to the league’s first team for three or more years.
