Dr. Grossnickle taught for over 30 years and was a faculty advisor to the student council. He was instrumental in obtaining financial support for intercollegiate athletics. This drive towards financial support occurred during the heart of the depression (1932). Although he contributed his own funds to athletics, Grossnickle strongly believed that since the entire college community benefited from the athletic program, everyone should contribute to the cause. Finally, a solution was agreed upon and all students were charged an activity fee. He was also responsible for forming a men’s club that supported athletics. His words of encouragement and his undying spirit contributed a great deal to the success of the athletes in the 1930’s. Dr. Grossnickle is retired and resides in Melbourne, Florida.
