Joe was instrumental in the formation of the Jersey City State equestrian team in 1965 and the club football team in 1966, serving as advisor to both teams. Joe wrote the Constitution for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) which presently has a membership of over 130 colleges. In 1966 the club football team was undefeated, and in 1970 the equestrian team won the National Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Championship. Joe served as Dean of Administration at JCSC from 1965 to 1970 and has been the President of Hudson County Community College since 1977.
