Dave Crist was a record-setting defensive end for the Gothic Knights who played on two of Jersey City State’s best teams as a freshman and a sophomore. A four-year letterman, Crist was selected first team All-New Jersey State Collegiate Athletic Conference in 1974 and 1975. As a sophomore in 1973, he earned second-team All-NJSCAC laurels. He served as team captain as a junior and a senior. The Gothic Knights went 8-1 during Crist’s freshman season and posted a 9-1 record in 1973, his sophomore season. The 1973 team shared the NJSCAC title, the only football conference co-championship in school history. As a junior, Crist recorded a school-record 106 total tackles including a JCSC-record 60 solo tackles. Crist is married to Montclair State Graduate Maureen Cahill and they have a son, David (age 12) and two daughters, Jamie (10) and Sarah (8).
