Paul’s three- year career at Jersey City State was marked by outstanding all-around play as he scored 955 points and pulled in 491 rebounds for Hall of Fame Coach Ollie Gelston. The 1964 and 1965 teams each won the conference championship; and in 1964, Paul led the Gothics to the NAIA District 31 title by scoring 13 points in the semifinal game vs. Maryland State (55-54) and 25 points in the final against Plattsburg State (62-61).

Paul was voted second-team All-Conference in both 1965 and 1966.
